A Baby Brian Christmas Reflection
His Holy Face
Wrapped in swaddling clothes & laid in a manger.
Wrapped in burial cloths and laid in a tomb.
You could not move but where you were carried,
In the darkness, in the cold.Unintimidated by our lack of eloquence,
We approach you with unveiled faces,
Our hearts crying out to the King,
Whose native tongue is silence:
“O little one, were you born simply to die?”But in the groaning of our grief,
In silence, love has come to speak.
How can in death, hope be conceived? And buried, hidden from our eyes,
God prepares to open paradise.
Awestruck by what grace has brought,
A gift surpassing human thought.God wrote a story long ago
That dared enflesh what hope foretold.
Of all the ways He could have shown
His promises true, His power, His throne…The tragic death of an innocent child.
But death did not have the final word.
He conquered death and opened the grave,
And it all began with a baby’s face.
Danielle Rose
Danielle Rose is a core member of the team working to share Baby Brian’s story. She is a Notre Dame alumni and Catholic singer-songwriter whose music ministry has spanned more than two decades, during which she has served the Church through liturgical and devotional music, retreats, and parish missions, drawing deeply from Scripture and Catholic tradition. A longtime recording artist and speaker, she is known for weaving theology, personal testimony, and prayer into her work; her 2021 album Beauty Unnoticed—her first in over ten years—was written and recorded after embracing marriage and motherhood (in her calling to the “mamastery”). This album was written as an expression of her grieving heart in the wake of personal loss, offering a contemplative reflection on suffering, hope, and God’s quiet presence in ordinary life, as reflected in the mission of her Beauty Unnoticed project.
